The crash reportedly occurred when another car, driven by a 32-year-old man from Churchville was heading southbound on the Staunton Loop. His vehicle, a 2011 Nissan Maxima, drifted into the other side of the road and hit a 1995 Nissan Altima. It was reported that the driver of the Altima was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
Tragically, the driver of the Altima died at the scene. The driver of the 2011 Nissan Maxima suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville by helicopter.
So far, there have been no charges. However law enforcement officials are still investigating the incident.
