She was facing DUI charges, as well, and it is expected that she will eventually enter a guilty plea on those charges. However, there was a clerical error with the paperwork, so she did not get to put that plea in at the same time. She’ll have to come back to court and do it at a later date.
Per the Virginia State Police, the woman — who starred on a show in Atlanta, Georgia — was behind the wheel of a 2011 Cadillac last November. She got on I-264, heading west in the eastbound lanes. A young man was coming toward her in a 2009 Mazda, and the two vehicle collided.
That man was badly injured and rushed to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital by emergency crews. Unfortunately, they were unable to save him. He passed away the day after the accident. He was just 29 years old at the time.
The woman was also hurt in the accident. Her legal team says that she needs care around the clock. At court appearances, she has been using a walker and still walking with a limp. Though judges wondered about how she’d deal with those injuries in jail, her bond was revoked.
Devastating and preventable accidents happen when people drive under the influence. The families of those who are killed need to know their legal rights.
